Vitaros 3mg/g cream

from£60.99

Vitaros is a cream used to treat erectile dysfunction. It contains the active ingredient alprostadil, which is also found in other medications such as Caverject and MUSE. When applied to the skin, the cream is absorbed and works by dilating the blood vessels that control blood flow to the penis and helping the blood vessels that allow blood to leave the penis to constrict, keeping blood in the penis and allowing it to maintain an erection.

Unlike other alprostadil products that require injection, Vitaros is applied directly to the tip of the penis and is absorbed into the skin to perform its function. It typically starts working within 5-30 minutes and may last for 1-2 hours.

Vitaros may be particularly useful for patients who have difficulty swallowing tablets or experience side effects from oral PDE-5 inhibitors. It is associated with fewer known side effects, has fewer drug interactions, and is less affected by food and drink compared to oral PDE-5 inhibitors.

What is Vitaros cream 3mg/g?

Vitaros is a topical cream used to treat erectile dysfunction. It contains the active ingredient alprostadil, a prostaglandin (PGE-1), which is also found in other medications such as Caverject and MUSE. When applied to the skin, the cream is absorbed and works by dilating the blood vessels that control blood flow to the penis and helping the blood vessels that allow blood to leave the penis to constrict, keeping blood in the penis and allowing it to maintain an erection.

Vitaros is unique among alprostadil products because it is applied to the opening of the urethra at the tip of the penis via a plunger provided in the pack, rather than being injected. The effects of the medication can be noticed within 5-30 minutes and may last for 1-2 hours.

It is also suitable for patients who take nitrates for angina or heart disease and are not able to safely use oral PDE-5 inhibitors.

What is the active ingredient in Vitaros 3mg/g cream?

The active ingredient in Vitaros 3mg/g cream is alprostadil.

What is Vitaros 3mg/g cream used for?

Vitaros cream is used to treat erectile dysfunction (ED) in men. It is a topical medication that is applied directly to the tip of the penis, providing a non-invasive alternative to oral ED medications. Vitaros works by increasing blood flow to the penis, helping to achieve and maintain an erection suitable for sexual activity. This medication is particularly beneficial for men who may not respond well to oral ED treatments or who prefer a topical application.

How does Vitaros 3mg/g cream work?

Vitaros 3mg/g cream is an effective treatment for erectile dysfunction (ED) that works by utilizing alprostadil, a prostaglandin E1 analog. Alprostadil is a vasodilator, which means it helps to widen blood vessels. When applied topically to the urethral meatus (the opening at the tip of the penis), Vitaros facilitates increased blood flow into the penile tissues. This action is achieved by relaxing the smooth muscle cells and dilating the blood vessels within the penis, which promotes the engorgement necessary for an erection. Unlike oral medications that need to be absorbed and metabolized through the digestive system, Vitaros is absorbed directly through the skin, allowing for a quicker onset of action, typically within 5 to 30 minutes. This local application reduces the likelihood of systemic side effects, making it a suitable option for men who may have contraindications to oral ED medications or who experience side effects from them. The ease of application and rapid effectiveness make Vitaros a practical choice for those seeking an alternative to oral ED treatments.

How do you use Vitaros 3mg/g cream?

To ensure the best results and minimize the risk of side effects, it is important to carefully follow the application instructions for Vitaros. You should only apply the medication as prescribed. To use the medication, apply one dose of the cream using the pre-prepared plunger (applicator) to the tip of the penis (urethra) 5-30 minutes before anticipated sexual intercourse. After applying the cream, hold your penis upright for 30 seconds to allow it to be absorbed into the skin. Do not use more than one dose in any 24-hour period, and do not apply it more than 2-3 times in any one week. By following these instructions, you can help to maximize the effectiveness of the treatment and minimize the risk of experiencing side effects.

Who should not use Vitaros 3mg/g cream?

Please read the following warnings to ensure you select an appropriate product.
Do not use Vitaros if any of the following apply to you:
  • You experience a drop in blood pressure when moving from lying/sitting to standing, have a history of heart attack, or experience syncope (dizziness).

What are the side effects with Vitaroa 3mg/g cream?

If you experience a long-lasting erection lasting more than 4 hours or notice any signs of an allergic reaction to the medication, you should contact your doctor immediately. How does Vitaros work?

How do I apply Vitaros cream?

Vitaros is applied directly to the tip of the penis using a pre-filled applicator. To ensure proper application, follow the instructions provided in the packaging carefully. The cream is gently squeezed out of the applicator and onto the urethral meatus, which is the opening at the tip of the penis.

How long does it take for Vitaros to work?

After applying Vitaros, it typically takes about 5 to 30 minutes to start working. The effects of the medication can last for up to 1-2 hours, allowing sufficient time for sexual activity. The onset and duration of action can vary depending on individual response.

Are there any side effects associated with Vitaros?

Common side effects of Vitaros include mild to moderate local reactions such as penile pain, redness, and swelling. Some users might also experience a burning sensation or mild discomfort. In rare cases, more serious side effects like prolonged erections or dizziness may occur, and immediate medical attention should be sought if these happen.

Can I use Vitaros if I am taking other ED medications?

Vitaros should not be used by men who have conditions that might result in a prolonged erection, such as sickle cell anemia, or those with abnormal penile anatomy. Additionally, men who have been advised to avoid sexual activity due to health reasons, like recent heart attack or stroke, should not use Vitaros. Consult your doctor for a thorough evaluation.

Do I need to use a condom when using Vitaros?
