What are Solpadeine Plus Soluble tablets?

Solpadeine Plus Soluble Tablets are intended for the short-term relief of moderate pain. It can be used in patients over 12 years of age when other painkillers, such as paracetamol or ibuprofen alone, have not been effective. These tablets can be used to treat migraine, headache, dental pain, period pain, strains and sprains, backache, rheumatic pain, and sciatica.

Each tablet contain three active ingredients: paracetamol, codeine, and caffeine. Paracetamol and codeine are both painkillers, with codeine belonging to a group of medicines called opioid analgesics. Codeine can be used on its own or in combination with other painkillers. Caffeine is added to the combination to improve the overall analgesic effect of the paracetamol.

What are the active ingredients in Solpadeine Plus Soluble tablets?

  • Backache
  • Rheumatic pain & sciatica
Usage:

Solpadeine Plus and Headaches:
  • Effective for the short-term treatment of headaches, but should not be used for more than 3 consecutive days and only when headaches cannot be managed with paracetamol, ibuprofen, or aspirin alone.
  • Some individuals may experience headaches as a side effect of Solpadeine Plus, and overuse of painkillers can worsen headache symptoms.
  • If you rely on painkillers for headaches for more than 10 days, seek advice from your doctor or pharmacist

How do Solpadeine Plus Soluble tablets work?

Solpadeine Plus Soluble Tablets contains three active ingredients: paracetamol, codeine, and caffeine.
  • Paracetamol: Acts as an effective pain reliever by reducing the production of certain chemicals in the brain that cause pain and inflammation.
  • Codeine: An opioid analgesic that works by blocking pain messages from reaching the brain, providing additional pain relief.
  • Caffeine: Enhances the effectiveness of paracetamol and helps counteract drowsiness, a common side effect of codeine.
This combination of ingredients ensures that Solpadeine Plus provides comprehensive relief from mild to moderate pain, while also addressing potential side effects to maintain your comfort and alertness.

Who should not take Solpadeine Plus soluble tablets?

Warnings and Precautions Codeine is converted to morphine in the liver by an enzyme. Morphine is responsible for pain relief. However, variations in this enzyme can affect individuals differently. In some people, little to no morphine is produced, resulting in insufficient pain relief. Others may produce a large amount of morphine, leading to serious side effects. If you experience any of the following side effects, stop taking this medicine and seek immediate medical advice: slow or shallow breathing, confusion, sleepiness, small pupils, nausea or vomiting, constipation, or lack of appetite. Children and Adolescents After Surgery: Codeine should not be used for pain relief in children and adolescents after the removal of their tonsils or adenoids due to Obstructive Sleep Apnoea Syndrome. For Children with Breathing Problems: Codeine is not recommended for children with breathing problems, as the symptoms of morphine toxicity may be more severe in these children. Pregnancy and Breastfeeding: Consult your doctor before taking Solpadeine Plus Soluble Tablets if you are pregnant. Do not take Solpadeine Plus Soluble Tablets while breastfeeding, as codeine and morphine can pass into breast milk. Driving and Using Machines: This medicine can impair your ability to drive as it may cause sleepiness or dizziness. Do not drive while taking this medicine until you know how it affects you. It is an offense to drive if this medicine affects your ability to drive. However, you would not be committing an offense if:
