At medicalmojo.co.uk we are dedicated to offering you a full lifestyle package when it comes to weight loss. Many of you may have heard of coaching (there is a lot of it about!), but you may not be aware what it is and how it may help you. So if you are unsure or if you feel coaching may be a bit “woo-woo”, this article is for you. Let us fill you in! In this article we will be discussing weight loss coaching.

You can use the navigational table below to skip to the topics that interest you.

What is coaching?

When I attended my first ever coaching training session, my dad asked me this very question, adding… “Are you going to be like a tennis coach or something?” Well, the answer to that was/is a definite no, and there is no requirement for tennis at all as part of the coaching journey ..unless that is something that you want to do!

Coaching unlocks your potential

Coaching is all about helping you unlock your potential and achieve your goals. It can work for all aspects of life including career, relationships, personal growth and of course health and lifestyle. Think of it as having a guide who keeps you on track, pushes you to improve, and cheers you on as you succeed (we love the cheering you on bit!).

A coach is your guide

A coach doesn’t tell you what to do. Instead, they help you identify what you want and create a plan to get there. They’ll ask the right questions, provide guidance, and hold you accountable. It’s all about moving forward and doing so in a faster and more structured way than you would achieve without a coach.

Coaching is about growing

Coaching helps you break through barriers and build momentum. It’s not about fixing; it’s about growing.

In a world where distractions and self-doubt can slow you down, coaching helps you cut through the noise. It’s about making progress—your way, on your terms. If you’re ready to level up and create a healthier you that you’re proud of, coaching might be exactly what you need.

Is coaching the same as counselling?

Another definite no!

If you’re wondering whether coaching is the same as counselling, you’re not alone and many people confuse the two. While coaching and counselling have similarities, they serve different purposes—and choosing the right one depends on what you need.

Coaching, goal setting and habits

Coaching, like what we offer at MedicalMojo, is future-focused and action-oriented. It’s about helping you set goals, overcome obstacles, and create strategies to achieve the life you want. Whether you’re trying to build better habits in order to lose weight, improve your fitness, or stick to a healthy diet, a coach acts as a motivator and guide.

At MedicalMojo, our coaches specialise in personalised, practical plans that empower you to take control of your health, mindset, and success.

What is counselling?

Counselling, on the other hand, often deals with the past. It’s led by trained therapists who help you process emotions, heal from trauma, or manage mental health conditions like anxiety or depression. Counselling is essential for addressing deep-seated issues that may require diagnosis or therapeutic intervention.

Coaching is not a substitute for therapy

While coaching might touch on emotional or mental blocks, it doesn’t replace therapy. For example, if you’re struggling to build confidence or manage stress, a coach can help you develop tools and habits. But if you’re dealing with unresolved trauma or mental health disorders, a counsellor is better equipped to provide support.

Think of coaching as the push to achieve your goals and counselling as the space to heal. Both are valuable, but they serve different parts of your journey.

Our MedicalMojo coaches will focus on helping you move forward with clear, actionable plans, offering accountability and motivation. If you’re ready to take charge of your future, coaching can be the perfect first step toward unlocking a new, healthier you.

Can Coaching Boost Your Weight Loss Goals?

If you’ve ever set a weight loss goal, you know it can be tough to stay motivated and on track. Life is packed with work, social events, and endless distractions, making it easy to prioritise everything but your health. This is where coaching can make a big difference.

A coach helps develop a plan that’s right for you

A coach provides more than just accountability; they help tailor a plan to fit your specific needs, lifestyle, and goals. Unlike generic advice from the internet, a good coach works with you to create realistic strategies that match your routine, whether it’s juggling long work shifts or breaking well established “bad” habits. They also offer support when things don’t go as planned, turning setbacks into learning opportunities instead of letting them derail your progress.

Coaching with scientific proven methods not fad diets

Coaching also gives you access to expert knowledge. Instead of wasting time wondering if you should try keto, intermittent fasting, or simply cut out anything that has any calories (please don’t do that!), a coach can guide you toward scientifically backed approaches that suit your body and lifestyle. This personalised touch helps you avoid common mistakes that slow progress, like under-eating, over-exercising, or relying too much on fad diets.

Why do I need coaching for weight loss?

Losing weight can feel overwhelming, especially when you’re bombarded with conflicting advice and quick-fix diets. If you’re trying to balance work, family, or a social life, you might wonder if you even have the time or energy to tackle weight loss. This is where coaching can be a game-changer.

A coach focuses on what works

A MedicalMojo coach helps you move past guesswork. Instead of trying every fad diet or wasting hours in the gym without seeing results, a coach can simplify the process by focusing on what works, saving you time and frustration.

Coaching is about habits

Coaching isn’t just about nutrition and exercise; it’s about creating lasting habits. A coach helps you identify barriers that might be holding you back—like late-night snacking, emotional eating, or lack of motivation—and teaches you practical strategies to overcome them. They work with you to build a sustainable routine that fits your unique schedule, whether that’s morning workouts or quick, healthy meals between classes or meetings.

Coaching and accountability

One of the biggest benefits of coaching is accountability. It’s easy to lose motivation or fall off track when no one’s watching, but a coach is there to keep you focused. They’ll celebrate your wins, help you navigate setbacks, and keep you moving toward your goals—even when life gets hectic.

Coaching takes away the guesswork

Coaching isn’t just about dropping pounds; it’s about building confidence, energy, and a healthy relationship with your body. With a coach by your side, you’ll not only lose weight but also gain the tools to maintain your results for years to come. If you’re ready to stop guessing and start thriving, contact us at
