What are Fluconazole 150mg Thrush Capsules?

Fluconazole, the active ingredient in this medication, is part of a class of drugs known as antifungal agents. It is utilized to treat infections brought on by fungi and can also be used preventatively to stop candidal infections. The most frequent source of these fungal infections is a yeast known as Candida.

Fluconazole is commonly prescribed to treat vaginal thrush in women.

What is the active ingredient in Fluconazole 150mg Thrush Capsules?

Each capsule contains the active ingredient: 150 mg of fluconazole

What are Fluconazole 150mg Thrush Capsules used for?

Fluconazole is the active component in these capsules, a part of the antifungal agents group of medicines. It is utilized to treat infections caused by fungi, including the prevention of candidal infections, with Candida yeast being the most common cause.

Fluconazole effectively addresses vaginal thrush in women and the related condition, candidal balanitis, in men.

What is Vaginal Thrush?

Vaginal thrush is an infection caused by the Candida yeast. Many women naturally host this yeast without issues. However, disruptions in the natural balance, such as those caused by antibiotics, diabetes, hormonal contraceptives, or compromised health, can lead to an overgrowth of this yeast. Symptoms of thrush can include:

  • Itching around the vagina
  • Soreness that worsens with friction or when urine contacts the inflamed area
  • A white, odorless vaginal discharge

Not all symptoms appear in every case of thrush.

Prevention Tips for Recurrent Thrush:

  • Maintain regular, gentle hygiene
  • Avoid tight-fitting clothes and prefer cotton underwear and loose clothing over tights
  • Steer clear of perfumed soaps, bath products, and vaginal deodorants
  • Change tampons regularly, as a saturated tampon can promote yeast growth

Sexual activity can exacerbate thrush, and although not classified as a venereal disease, it can be transmitted to a partner during intercourse. If recurrent thrush is an issue, treatment with Fluconazole 150 mg Capsules may also be necessary for your partner. Consult a doctor if there is uncertainty about recurring infections or diagnosis.

How do Fluconazole 150mg Thrush Capsules work?

Fluconazole 150mg Thrush Capsules work by attacking the fungus that causes infections like thrush. The main ingredient in the capsules, fluconazole, is part of a group of drugs called azole antifungals. It works by stopping the fungus from making a substance called ergosterol, which they need to build their cell walls. Without this substance, the fungus’s cells start to break down, releasing their contents and causing the fungus to die. This action helps to clear up the infection, relieving symptoms and preventing the infection from coming back.
