How does Tranexamic acid work?

Tranexamic Acid is a medication classified as an antifibrinolytic, which works by inhibiting the production of an enzyme responsible for breaking down blood clots in your body. This medication is particularly useful in managing heavy menstrual bleeding, commonly referred to as menorrhagia, as well as in treating nosebleeds, and bleeding associated with surgeries such as prostate or bladder surgery. Additionally, Tranexamic Acid is also used in conditions like hereditary angioedema, where it helps manage symptoms by stabilizing blood clot formation and reducing the risk of severe bleeding.
